Hey Guys give me a break,I've priced this $450 under Flaydermann's in good condition. Joslyn 1862 Carbine. This is the 1862 model with the brass mountings and the exposed firing pin extension. This was found at a farm auction in Indiana in the 1950s and when into a major collection in Bar Harbor Maine.
Serial number 1227. Wood is good, not dried out with lots of original varnish, except for the small lost at the end of the top tang as seen in the photos. Seems to work perfect. The most interesting is the large amount of original civil war period brass trench art inlaid into the stock. A small one is missing or perhaps never installed, see photo. The good news about this carbine is the condition and large amount of period brass inlays. There are several missing items: the slide-bar and saddle ring have been removed; the front sight is gone and the leaf elevator on the rear sight is missing, the top tang is cracked at the screw, common on these carbines. The brass is in a wonderful old mustard color. Your personal check is fine with me and if you want it shipped in a hard case add $10.
