This Carbine was probably issued to Union Cavalry Troops towards the end of the war. I believe they called this an 1864 Model Carbine. This Carbine fires a .52cal rimfire cartridge. This Carbine is in fully functional condition. The bore is very good with some mild pitting and light rust. rifling is very strong and there is still lots of shine. There are US inspectors markings on the stock side and at the buttplate,(FDL). There is also a G.W.S. stamp on the left side of the barrel at the breech. Rear of Breech block is marked,( B.F. Joslyns patent October 8TH 1861 June 24TH 1862). The stock on this gun is also in very good condition.
